The Melodica Festival celebrates local music scenes around the world with the aim to provide an invaluable platform for emerging artists to network and develop new creative relationships.

 

Melodica Festival was born in December 2007 by Pete Uhlenbruch, a passionate musician who simply wanted to create a genuinely attentive space for other artists to perform and interact in, and foster a sense of community in an increasingly challenging industry. 

 

On December 31, 2010, my wife Michelle, our son Eggert and I moved to the Westfjords of Iceland. By unexpected luck, we became involved with Melodica Reykjavik on the 19th of August; I was helping set up equipment for a showcase featuring 5 traveling troubadors to perform at Melrakkasetur, The Arctic Fox Center in Sudavik, when I recieved a call that they were in the local hospital after rolling their car several times, scattering their things everywhere. I met them there - bruised, shaken and battered. Despite their physical and emotional states, they insisted on playing that evening, each delivering poignant, heart-felt performances. We were smitten and drawn into the Melodica family that night. They stayed with us overnight, making a connection that resulted in making us friends for life. In 2012, we were invited to perform in Melodica Reykjavik at Cafe Rosenberg, where the connection continued to grow. We have been involved ever since, playing and helping out for the last 7 years. We were lucky to go to Paris and Nottingham Melodica, continuing to grow within the artist family. Michelle, our son Eggert and I moved to Nashville at the end of August 2018. I realized that I wanted to continue the Melodica vibe in Nashville. We look forward to seeing and hearing our friends, new and old. We will welcome them to Nashville and let the Melodica family continue to grow.
